Paperclips and Tips on Creating Space

  1. Most things are replaceable, but time isn’t.

  2. Throw out that pile of newspapers. All that information is available online now. Or give yourself a deadline to either read, clip or file – if the deadline comes and you haven’t done it, then toss.

  3. When you’re trying to decide what to keep and what to throw away, ask yourself if it lifts your energy when you look at it.

  4. Give yourself a deadline by having a party or inviting a houseguest.

  5. Whenever possible, do it now. If it takes three minutes or less, definitely do it now.

  6. Think twice before printing documents or accepting handouts at meetings.

  7. Start small and simple.

  8. Practice healthy boundaries: check out if you really want to say yes.

  9. Ask yourself if you are keeping yourself attached to the past by what you are keeping.

  10. Get rid of one (or 10) items each day until you have simplified.

If you have specific questions about an organizing challenge, please e-mail me at val@spaceforgrace.net and I will send you customized ideas.

Paper Clips

"Do everything with a mind that lets go. Do not expect any praise or reward. If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace. If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom. Your struggles  with the world will have come to an end.”
