Paperclips and Tips on Creating Space
-
Most things are replaceable, but time isn’t.
-
Throw out that pile of newspapers. All that information is available online now. Or give yourself a deadline to either read, clip or file – if the deadline comes and you haven’t done it, then toss.
-
When you’re trying to decide what to keep and what to throw away, ask yourself if it lifts your energy when you look at it.
-
Give yourself a deadline by having a party or inviting a houseguest.
-
Whenever possible, do it now. If it takes three minutes or less, definitely do it now.
-
Think twice before printing documents or accepting handouts at meetings.
-
Start small and simple.
-
Practice healthy boundaries: check out if you really want to say yes.
-
Ask yourself if you are keeping yourself attached to the past by what you are keeping.
-
Get rid of one (or 10) items each day until you have simplified.
If you have specific questions about an organizing challenge, please e-mail me at val@spaceforgrace.net and I will send you customized ideas.

"Do everything with a mind that lets go. Do not expect any praise or reward. If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace. If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom. Your struggles with the world will have come to an end.”
